November plotholders’ meeting

Present: Plotholders at 6, 7, 10 ,11,16, 19, 26, 28, 29, 32, 35, 40, 42, 47, 48, 49, 52, 53, 55, 56, 60, 61, 64,

Apologies: Plotholders at 1, 4, 43,  34, 58.

Meeting started with Chairperson referring to October’s meeting which discussed part of the Draft Management Plan, a note of which wassent to all plotholders with emails. This meetingwaas to continue the debate on the plan, to conclude consideration of it and to allow it to be edited and then to be published, and offerred to the new committee elected at the forthcoming Annual general Meeting on 26th Novemebr 2023.

DRAFT MANAGEMENT PLAN ( continued from October 1st Meeting)

Disabled person’s access to plots and facilities.

Meeting supported action in the Plan to find out if local services for disabled and elderly people may wish to access Westthorn, and  advise what improvements may be required e.g path network, accessing gate lock, access compost loo. Funding may be applied for later to implement any proposed changes/upgrades etc.

Digital Facilities.

This has been discussed at previous plotholders meetings. The Draft Plan includes purchase of allotment laptop, allotment phone ( done), and any relevant, necessary power supply gear.

Hedge Cutting

Meeting re-affirmed item at previous meeting which agreed a £20 fee to reduce height of hedges to manageable heights taking into consideration plotholders capability to maintain it afterwards, and RSPB advice on wildlife conservation. Cutting would only involve front and tops of hedges.

Plot 62

A few members wished to confirm decision of previous meeting regarding future plans for use of Plot

62. SC reported that the comments given at October’s meeting would be reaffirmed. Plans for developing 62 as a storage area for manure and other supplies were being made and if there was sufficient space, an “accessible garden” may be considered, although this could perhaps be developed in other plots close to the gate etc. The committee would monitor the opportunity provided by vacated plots etc.

TM confirmed that the Draft Management Plan would be amended to take account of comments etc made in October and November, and thanked all participating plotholders for their support and attendance. The finsal text woukld be sent via email, put on the website and printed.
